Please check the Unit of Inquiry tab for information on our new UOI "Sharing the Planet."
Mr. Shields came to visit 2G and 2R to share a power point presentation about his career in engineering! The kids absolutely loved to hear about his exciting job! They had literally hundreds of questions. The students really enjoyed learning about the 4 main types of engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical and chemical). This presentation fit in perfectly with our current UOI about jobs in the local community. Please email Mr. Heere or Ms. Waldman if you would like to do a career talk/presentation for the Grade 2 students.
Grade 2 EAL students finished Term 2 by making an informative poster about energy, they read books and looked at websites on the internet to get information to include in their poster, very informative posters they are too! Earlier in the term grade 2 students produced a comic strip about their favourite celebration. Also, students worked on literary elements such as rhyming words contained in nursery rhymes such as Miss Mary Mack and by writing poems about colours. In term 3 we have kicked off by going “Off to Work” in their UOI about jobs. Students will investigate different jobs, discuss what our needs and wants are as humans, and how this affects the jobs we do in the community. We will also touch on what attributes a person needs to be able to do a job. To round off the term we will give support during the final UOI which is about the environment, we will read many books on the subject, as recent research shows that hearing and using a language is the best way to acquire it!
Dear Parents, currently we are learning about jobs and careers in the community. If any parents would like to come into school for a visit and do a little presentation about your job/career this would be wonderful! Please email Mr. Heere if you would like to do this anytime during the month of April. Thanks for your support.
Please see the Weebly photos tab for a few new photos albums of your children during various events and activities. I apologize some of these photos were taken upside down on my iPad.
Please check the Math and Unit of Inquiry pages for updates on how we are teaching multiplication and our new UOI.
